We have certainly come a long way since the first two paged Newsletter - to our first software version on our website. Some would say it is long overdue so please bear with us while we try and it get it right!
As you will probably know I am not a computer fan and have very little patience with this type of technology, however I have been persuaded that we should no longer be producing a paper Newsletter, but should migrate to provide all the relevant information via our website.
So just to let you know that whilst you should be able to get all the information from our website, please feel free to pick up that old fashioned method of communication, the telephone and speak to someone at the Fishery if you have any questions.
Hope you enjoy our efforts.
It is nice to be able to report that fishing this season, has once again exceeded our expectations with plenty of carp into the forties and catfish to 60 plus, tench recorded at 13lb plus with many more in double figures. We have never had so many large tench catches before they must be feeding on carp bait?
Although rarely mentioned our roach and rudd for those interested seem to be getting bigger and bigger both species topping 2lbs.
A big welcome to the new faces this Season, I can confidently say that 50% have managed their personal bests and that is what we are all about, good luck lads and see you next year.
For the catfish anglers amongst you last year they continued to feed throughout the winter and I cant see it being any different this year, consequently we could see a big increase in our forties and fifties next season.
We have managed to obtain a super deal on rods (£75.00) and landing nets (£60.00), the rods are 12’ 3lb tc and 12’6” 3.25lb tc. The rods are English manufactured (not Chinese), fully guaranteed. Manufacturered by Alistair Bond who produced the hugely popular Hutchy Dreamaker.
We took these to the recent Carp Society Show and were wipped out, but have managed to purchase a further small stock and they are available on request. First come first served and of course we have a good range of bite alarms which are of course available to members.
Our biggest problem during the last year has been the abuse of our toilets! Everybody has been told and there are signs to remind you only to flush toilet paper away. Both pumps finally packed up this year because they could not cope with anything other than waste and toilet paper and had to be replaced at the considerable cost of £3000.00 to the Fishery. Please, please do not flush anything else down the toilets.
We have a great time with our summer week-end competitions, everybody wants to win but it is done in a really friendly manner. It would be great to see some more new faces participating. If you are interested contact the office or Stuart.
Don’t forget all members are welcome to call in for a tea or coffee to find out the latest, we love to see you and you don’t have to be fishing to pop in to say hello!
