CATCH UPDATE

WINTER - November, December, January, February

  NOVEMBER

Lee Fisher decided that a long session on Mallard was just the ticket. Knowing how Lee attends to details so carefully, he recorded a session of 11.6 days (280 hours) on Mallard's peg 7. His staggering haul of 48 fish for 1106lbs is quite an achievement!

Using boilies the whole time Lee logged - 29 commons - best 40lb, 13 mirrors - best 28lb 4oz, three kois and one linear, leather and cat!

Certainly a session to be proud of and we are convinced you would be hard pushed to achieve that sort of catch rate at many other waters in the UK, well done Lee!

Although Peter Fraser's session on Kingfisher only produced one fish for him, he was “well. chuffed, with a fish of a lifetime”, a new pb mirror of 38lb 4oz.

A three day session for Graham Kettle on Mallard in mid November rewarded him with a scale perfect common of 30lb 8oz on a boilie.

A late cat session for Gary Furminger was productive, with four cats on the bank, best being 48lb 10oz.

DECEMBER

The Fishery was buzzing just after Christmas, with more than a few festive anglers over the holiday period and a few surprises graced the banks.

Kingfisher performed well for three members:

Cliff Sivyer took a stunning 36lb 8oz common on a tutti fruiti boille.  Ian Cox landed a 27lb koi from the jacuzzi and Karl Francis a fully scaled mirror of 30lb.

JANUARY

Not be be outdone on Mallard, Ian Darke who completed a session on 2nd January 2008 recorded our very last (and our latest ever recorded to date we might add) cat of 2007, with a beauty of 30lb.

Early January left the lakes virtually deserted until the latter part of the month, perhaps everyone was recovering from the excesses of Xmas and New Year?!

However, Tony Brewer ventured on to Mallard and had a "lovely start to the year" with a common of 28lb.

A three day stint on Kingfisher for Ian Cox gave him two "G's", three GREAT fish from a GREAT Fishery, a koi of 28lb 7oz and two commons of 23lb and 43lb 2oz.

FEBRUARY

Gary Smith spent two days on Heron in early February, strongbow boilies did the trick for him with a brace of commons of 20lb 12oz and 25lb 6oz.

Ian Cox arrived on Kingfisher on a Thursday afternoon towards the end of February to find the lake quite busy with three anglers on the back bank and two in the "royal box" on the near bank, so after a walk around he decided to drop in to peg 26, which he had fished before with a little success previously.

After setting up and some time spent "leading about" he fished one rod out on the corner of the small island and with his right hand rod straight out in front in deeper water, both were fished with small pva bags and a popped up hookbait. A couple of hours later, around 6pm he had a run on the right hand rod and after a decent fight landed a beautiful 33lb common, what a great start.

Ian spent the next day and a half without a twitch and with no sign of any fish "showing".  He didn't hold out much hope of any more but about 3pm Saturday afternoon the left hand rod roared of and after another good fight, especially under the rod tip, a lovely 30lb 8oz orange koi was on the bank (interestingly he caught the same fish at the end of Jan at 28.7lb so its obviously been feeding well).

Obviously delighted Ian recast both the rods and settled in to listen to England beat France in the rugby, tough luck le bleu, and a good nights sleep.   This was disturbed by another run on the left hand rod and he lifted into a fish that roared of, taking about 20 yards of line in the initial run, after gradually making line on it and some plodding around in front of the swim it was in the net and it was looking at it, then he realized just how big it was. After getting every thing set up for some photos and giving some of the other lads on the lake a shout we lifted her out and popped her on the scales at 48lb!!! Unbelievable, we quickly got some more scales just to check the weight and it was confirmed, what a fish!

"Thanks to all at Wintons for running a brilliant Fishery and a place where dreams can come true."

A three day session on Mallard for Steven Merner saw him land four Pb's, but with a broken camera he was gutted as he could not capture the moment.  Commons of 21lb 8oz, 22lb 8oz, 27lb 14oz and mirrors of 11lb, 18lb, 20lb 2oz and 21lb 8oz was his haul.  Moral of the story - always carry a spare camera!
