3RD 48 HOUR CARP AND CATFISH
COMPETITION - SEPTEMBER 2010
Sadly there is very little to be able to write about this competition!
Nine out of the 12 anglers ended the week-end bald!!!!!!! As a result of sitting for 48 hours without a run between them, they were reduced to pulling their hair out trying in vain to get the fish to bite!!!!!!
The remaining three anglers faired only slightly better with Glyn Jones, Lou Stempien and Vic Copping putting fish on the bank. With one fish a piece for, Lou a 12lb 7oz cat and Vic a 9.l 4oz mirror, while Glyn was the only angler to have multiple catches, recording three cats of 28lb 4oz, 30lb and 40lb 5oz.
Congrats to Glyn who manged three fish under very hard conditions.
Final positions:
1st Glynn Jones 98lb 08ozs
2nd Lou Stempien 12lb 07ozs
3rd Vic Copping 9lb 04ozs
2ND 48 HOUR CARP AND CATFISH
COMPETITION - AUGUST 2010
Friday pmOnly five fish were banked on the first night of our second competition of the Summer. Rob Wyld led the way with the capture of a beautiful cat of 53lb 8oz, another good cat went to Kevin Oliver weighing in at 39lb 2oz and then a kitten of 9lb 8oz for Craig Jones. The other two fish banked were a 20lb common for Ian Keeler and 15lb 13oz mirror for Matt Christelow.
Saturday day
Saturday came and went with not one fish being added to the score board for the first time ever in the history of our competitions! Although there were a few reports of fish being lost!
Saturday pm
Again the fish were not on the feed, with only one angler troubling the score sheet, that being Ian Keeler who banked two cats of 27lb and a whoppa of 50lb 8oz.
Sunday day
As expected by all the anglers the final day was going to be very hard - and they were right as it was another completely blank day!
This competition will go down in th records as the lowest scoring event that we have ever held, but we are sure that all anglers will agree and have probably said more than once over the years, "that's fishing for yer!".
Final positions:
1st Ian Keeler 98lb 05oz
2nd Rob Wyld 53lb 08oz
3rd Kevin Oliver 39lb 02oz
1ST 48 HOUR CARP AND CATFISH COMPETITION - JUNE 2010
Friday pm
Friday night was quite slow for most anglers, with only five of the 12 recording catches. Glynn Jones had a 23lb 8oz common from peg 17, Addie Appleby a 10lb koi from peg 15, while Colin Essery did his "usual trick" by capturing a 12lb 8oz cat "off the top". The other two anglers to record catches were Kevin Oliver and peg 1 and Matt Barlow fishing out of peg 7.
The latter two were to go on for the rest of event well out in the front of the pack! Kevin's four fish haul consisted of two commons of 18lb 2oz and 17lb 5oz and two cats of 11lb 4oz and 28lb 8oz. However, Kevins' good night session was overshadowed by Matt, who led the field with two cats of 54lb and 21lb 4oz, plus a 15lb 4oz common.
Saturday day
Only three fish were recorded during a very hot Saturday, Addie Appleby added a 28lb 8oz mirror to his score, while Dan Essery opened his account with a 20lb 14oz cat. The same applied to Lou Stempien who weighed in a 30lb 10oz cat.
Saturday pm
Saturday night saw eight fish banked -
Glynn Jones 50lb cat
Matt Christelow 32lb cat
Dan Essery 23lb 12oz
Lou Stempien 9lb 2oz cat
Kevin Oliver 28lb 11oz cat and 14lb 12 common
but it was still Matt Barlow who was still out in front with two fish, a 42lb cat and 24lb 12oz common.
Sunday day
Only two anglers added to their tally and it was fitting that it was to be the two who had led the competition from the "off". Kevin Oliver added a 43lb 12oz cat, which was to secure him second place, but it was Matt Barlow who had the best weight with a 33lb cat and 24lb 12oz common.
Final positions:
1st Matt Barlow 219lb 12oz
2nd Kevin Oliver 162lb 06oz
3rd Glynn Jones 73lb 08oz
