1ST 48-HOUR CARP AND CATFISH COMPETITION
|
| |
Friday night started well with a total in excess of 250lb of fish being recorded.
Things looked good as Saturday morning approached with the sun out and fish feeding on the top. Neil Young who had recorded a couple of fish the previous night decided to change tactics and fish with floaters and was duly rewarded with the capture of six fish during the day. This put Neil into top spot by the end of the day.
The night was very slow for all anglers, but Neil did manage to weadle out another three carp, which put him even further ahead going into the final day.
Sunday again turned out to be very hot but the carp were not so evident on the surface. Neil again stuck with his surface baits and did manage to tempt three carp to take his offerings.
Mainly carp were taken during the comp but Glyn Jones did manage to bank a cat of 45lb.
Final Positions:
1st Neil Young 245lb 01oz 2nd Brian Langridge 187lb 12oz 3rd Glyn Jones 120lb 06oz

2ND 48-HOUR CARP AND CATFISH COMPETITION

Our second competition of the season was depleted by the non arrival of two anglers, so only 10 lined up for the draw. After some had drawn Matt Christelow decided to let Jan (from the office) draw his peg for him and she did not let Matt down when she drew him one of the favoured pegs, no. 7.
The first night was slow for all anglers, with Terry Fisher taking an early lead with a cat of 33lb 8oz and a common of 24lb 6oz. Kevin Oliver was close on Terry's heels banking four fish for 52lb 4oz.
Saturday came and went with only two anglers recording fish, Kevin landed two commons which put him into first position, the other captor being Matt who landed a cat of 44lb 2oz. When Jan heard about Matt's capture she gave a great sigh of relief as rumours were riff that Matt had a gun with her name on the bullet.
Saturday night was a very good night for fishing, yet it turned out that only two anglers recorded multiple captures. Kevin landed four fish for a total of 75lb, while the gun slinging Matt recorded three weighing 101lb 1oz. Matt's night time haul had lifted him from obscurity to second place.
Sunday saw a very pleasant day with Karl Francis weigh in three fish for 52lb, but the main capture of the day went to Matt who recorded four fish for the total of 87lb. Kevin who had been leading had a blank Sunday, so matt's Sunday haul leapfrogged him over Kevin into top spot. Needless to say Matt's gun was firmly back in it's holster.
Final positions:
1st Matt Christelow 223lb 12oz 2nd Kevin Oliver 173lb 13oz 3rd Karl Francis 101lb 07oz

3RD 48-HOUR CARP AND CATFISH COMPETITION

Our last competition of the Season was once again full with 12 anglers ready for the fight ahead. The first night came and went with only Andy Verrier recording a double capture. The other anglers who recorded during the first night were Mike Pullen with a single common of 15lb 3oz, Matt Christelow with common 24lb 1oz and Dan Gilbert who logged a cat of 1lb. Dan's cat small as it was unbelievably put him in fourth position!
Onto Saturday and again not a great day for the anglers with the fishing being quite slow. Dave Cromwell landed a cat on peg 3 of 44lb 4oz, Terry Fisher another from peg 13 at 35lb 5oz, Mike Pullen found a couple of fish from peg 16 for 40lb 6oz and Matt captured two fish out of peg 11 for 58lb 6oz. Matt's Saturday catch had taken him into first position.
Saturday night although there were not many fish feeding, Matt did manage three fish for 74lb, with the other night capture being a 26lb common for Colin Edwards and two fish for 30lb 2oz for Andy Verrier.
Sunday and a very slow end to our final competition of the year with only two anglers recording fish. Lee Taylor-Clarke with two commons of 19lb and 17lb 8oz, the other being Matt with a cat weighing 27lb 5oz.
Final Positions:
1st Matt Christelow 183lb 13oz 2nd Andy Verrier 89lb 06oz 3rd Mike Pullen 55lb 09oz
