It was good to see 60lb plus cats gracing the banks of Mallard again. I believe more 40lb plus cats were recorded this Season than any other in the past. As the cats fed right through the Winter last year they made a substantial weight gain.
It is now mid December and many good cats are still being caught, I think it is fair to say another good weight gain is on the cards for next Season, fingers crossed.
Sadly, it still seems very odd to me that Members can come and fish in beautiful surroundings and then throw their rubbish around as if it is a dump (some people have no class)?!
Several lead core leaders and barbed hooks have been found this year on the islands and in the snags. They must be being used after dark, as I never catch them during the day when I do rig checks.
So I will have to start doing night rig checks, which is a pain for everybody just because of a few"w......s".
Sadly Kris left us in September to work nearer to home, no doubt everyone will join me in wishing him well and hope to see him at the fishery in the future. Three new honourary bailiffs have been appointed - Kevin Stubbs, Ian Darke and Lee Fisher. They are here to help you should you need it, as well as policing the water.
